Class is in Session on SatSpanks

Reprising last weekend's post due to user error.  I did my post but must have forgotten to sign up.  Silly me.  For those who missed it... enjoy.  For those who didn't... it's a rerun.

What's your fantasy?  Ethan is on a mission to make all of Lanie's naughty dreams come true. Today, it's Teacher/student fun on SatSpanks.  What's more fun than that???

Law professor Ethan Fischer, is tired of watching his wife self-destruct. From now on, Ethan decides, his wife will be spending quite a bit of quality time over his knee with her bottom bare, learning some lessons she has needed for a long time. Today, those lessons will take place in his classroom.

Publisher’s Note: Lanie’s Lessons is an erotic romance novel that contains spankings, sexual scenes, elements of medical play and BDSM, anal play, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

My little snippet:

"Lift your skirt and show me your panties.”

She did, glad she had worn her newest lacy white ones.

“Very pretty, were those in the box that I left you?”

Crap. Removing them hadn’t crossed her mind. “No, sir.”

“Pull them down.”

Her thumbs went to the waistband. Knowing she had his full attention, she teasingly peeled the lace down her thighs, letting them go at the knee so that they slid down her calves. As she shifted to step out of them, his next order stopped her.

“I said down, not off. I want them just above your knees.”

What The Authors Are Reading

tequila-basic-pool_400-325 (400×325)Ever wonder what you favorite authors are reading?  Well, to be honest, its probably not much because they're busy writing, blogging and promoting.  For me, when I find a few quiet moments, I want to be swept away by a REALLY good romance.

Here are some recommendations from a good mix of BDSM and DD erotic stories that the authors gave 5 stars.

*****

Boardroom Resolution     Joey W. Hill

In this book Savannah is a shrewd businesswoman who meets with Matt a business partner that she has known for years.   Matt and his four business associates transform the boardroom into a BDSM playroom complete with a sex swing.  I have never read anything so erotic and breathtaking.  I did it through Audible, so maybe hearing it made it more erotic, but there were certain points that I felt like I couldn’t breathe.  I made the mistake of listening to it at work, of all damn places.  Good God.  Had my fan on and a couple times had to get up to take a walk to regain my wits.  If you have read any of Joey’s books, you know they are just amazing!  But this one took it to a whole new level.  One of the men made a specially designed sex toy and I want it so bad I can’t see straight.  My husband is a design engineer and I have told him I will NOT let him rest until he makes it for me.  LOL

~Megan Michaels

His Forever Summer           Tara Finnegan

Topping the Blushing Books best seller list this week, I picked up Tara Finnegan's newest; His Forever Summer for a quick and easy read for me because it drew me right in from the beginning.  This was my first Corbin's Bend novel and I wanted to know what the buzz was all about.  I'm glad my curiosity got me to 1-click, but the reason I chose this as my first, out of all the novels was because the idea of a "totally unsuspecting vanilla hero" being thrown into a spanking community really intrigued me.  It's usually the other way around.  Well written and thoroughly enjoyable.  I laughed out loud at some of the Irish that was intermingled into the story.  Bollocks, goolies and feck, to name a few that cracked me up.  I was also moved by Carla and her anxieties and self-doubt. The lead couple had great chemistry.  Great job, Tara.

~Maddie Taylor

We have a repeat 5-star nomination:

His Forever Summer        Tara Finnegan

I have read many of the CB books and loved them, love the idea and each of the characters I get to know. That said, this is probably my favorite out of the bunch Season 1 and 2. It took guts to take on the story of Carla, the woman everybody loves to hate at Corbin's Bend - and deservedly so. I didn't like her even a little bit before this book but by the end, I was crying with her and, finally, so happy for her with her HEA. I could easily relate to Carla, feel her insecurities, know her not very nice side and understand wholly feeling the outsider, the one who isn't quite welcome. I have a completely clear picture of Kieren, this big Irish guy who has no idea what he's walking into when he gets to CB and how he reacts when he sees it in action for the first time. He comes to care enough for Carla to take on her discipline rather than allowing her to go to a stranger for some corporal punishment.

I think that was the turning point in their relationship, that first punishment. I felt completely embarrassed right along with her when she stood in the corner that first time, was mortified when Kieren had her bend over the bed, bare bottomed, all of her exposed, but when he began to punish her, it just felt right. Talk about two people meant to be together.

Kieren was Alpha through and through and Carla the imperfect heroine. I loved them both and felt all the emotions Carla felt right along with her and wanted to shake Kieren at one point, but he got it together in the end. The punishments in this book are some of the best I've read - at least they're exactly what work for me and the sex was hot and I'm so glad Carla got to be heard and that she met this wonderful man who saw through the crap to what was inside.

~Natasha Knight

All They Ever Needed Series      Thianna D.

I loved this series because it was one filled with genuine characters, lots of laughter, and a couple that no one could resist falling in love with.

~Meredith O’Reilly

Victorious Star -- Morgan Hawke

I've read quite a bit of sci-fi, and a shit-ton of BDSM, but I have NEVER read anything that combined the genres so seamlessly and compellingly. Not only is this a great sci-fi adventure in its own right, but it's a scorching hot menage erotic romance too, one that's utterly drenched in eroticism.

Fans of very (very) stern Doms, pervasive dubious and non consent, double penetration, rough sex, sadomasochism (and sometimes outright pain), and just downright dirty sexual situations need to jump on this one, stat. The heroine is beautiful, tough, smart, resourceful... yet she doesn't stand a chance in hell against the two even stronger heroes.

This story includes an exploration of dominance and submission that progresses to a deep, profound master/slave dynamic in a way I've never encountered before. A truly remarkable, challenging, satisfying erotic tale.
~Trent Evans

Stormy Night Publications: A Look Behind the Naughtiness, Part 2

Welcome to part two of the three part interview
with the wonderful folks that make the magic at
Stormy Night Publications.

I had the pleasure and privilege of interviewing multi-talented cover artist extraordinaire, Korey Mae Johnson. As well as being a best-selling author in her own right, she also wears many hats at Stormy Night.  Some of her responsibilities include creating the gorgeous and eye-catching cover art, designing their wonderful website, and e-Book formatting.  She has also added the brand spanking new Newsletter to her list of things to do.

I asked Korey for a sampling of her covers and have included them throughout the post.  You'll find that they are spectacular and represent the variety of genres that can be found with Stormy Night Publications (SNP).

Now, on to my interview with Korey Mae Johnson

Maddie:  Korey, thanks for participating in our SNP interview.  It’s about time we learned more about the cogs in the well-oiled machine that cranks out such awesome books.

We’ll start out with some general business questions, then get on to some fun stuff. Okay?

First off, the authors that I know and talk to personally who have published with SNP have nothing but good things say about their experience. How does that make you feel?

Korey:  Good! We always do our best to make sure that authors have a good experience with us! We really try to treat people with professionalism and respect, communicate, pay on time, and help authors achieve as high of sales as possible.

Maddie:  I can say personally that you are succeeding in making it a good experience for this author.  Thank you!

As a self-proclaimed cover diva, I feel I am rather picky about my covers. I have looked through stock photos for hours until my eyes cross and I’m ready to pull out my hair. How do you do it? Where do you get your inspiration? And, on average, from start (receiving the author’s cover questionnaire) to finish (receiving the diva’s approval), how long does it take to create a cover?

Korey:  It’s really impossible to say. Some covers are easier than others. Some authors show me a photo of who they think their character looks like, and I’ll immediately think, “Oh, I know exactly what stock photo to use and what design to do!” just based on that. I even have tons of photos I’ve wanted to use categorized and saved so I don’t have to hunt for them again.

Other times, it’s not so easy. I sometimes spend many hours looking for the right stock photos for a particular cover, then another several putting it all together. Surprisingly, we’ve learned that in many cases the quicker I make a cover, the better it normally is. Then again, that is probably just because when I get the cover done quickly, it is because I already had something in mind that I knew would work really well.

Maddie:  Divas and prima donas aside (a.k.a moi), what's the hardest part about creating a cover for you?

Korey:  At the end of the day I try to make a cover that appeals to the book’s audience. I know what readers generally want because I know what they’re buying. James and I keep a really close eye on the erotica and BDSM market, and patterns of successful releases tend to pop up, even with cover design. I try to keep in the current pattern.

That being said, sometimes what readers want and what the author had in mind aren’t the same thing, so it can be a challenge, especially because I draw a lot of personal pride from my covers. I really strive to make them sexy, original, and successful. I know that people tend to judge books based on the cover, or at least it’s the cover that often draws people into reading the blurb and the sample and then hopefully buying, and being in charge of that aspect is something I take really seriously.

Maddie:  I often hear people say that they bought a book based solely on the cover.  It's the first impression, after all.  As an author, I agree it is pivotal in drawing readers in for that second look, at the blurb, the preview and hopefully, what lies beneath the cover.

How about editing, do you ever do edit any of SNP's books? If so, what's one grammar mistake (my nemesis!!!) that you would pay, I’m talking big money, to never see again? Or are you strictly creative?

Korey:  Nope. I’ve only edited one book myself at Stormy Night. It’s not the type of work I enjoy doing, despite the fact at one point I thought of doing it for a career. I have my degree in Technical Writing and I worked on several magazines in the past, but I always found editing nerve-wracking in practice. I’d hate to miss anything, and mistakes are bound to happen. So although I’m always there to answer a question on editing, or on content, or even on wording & sentence structure problems, I never work on the editing myself.

I focus on the creative end of the biz, and I’m happy there. Between covers, graphics, newsletters, web-design, creating the e-Books and writing novels, my work day is pretty stuffed.

Maddie:  Of the books submitted, what is your favorite genre to read from?

Korey:  Science fiction and ageplay are my favorites. J After working full-time with spanking books since I was twenty-two, I’ve found that I am a little desensitized to spanking in and of itself. Sci-fi has the ability to give me that non-con discipline that I can’t get enough of, and ageplay gives me a lot of that erotic embarrassment that I live for. That being said, I don’t always like everything I read in those genres, and I do sometimes enjoy books in other genres as well.

Maddie:  As a fellow author, what have you found to be the biggest mistake new authors make?

Korey:  Some new authors are so excited to be part of the author community that they sometimes get in way over their head and rush writing their first book. I see a lot of authors not doing their research about what to write, what their publishing options are, who their audience is, what their audience expects out of a certain genre, etc. I also see a lot of new authors letting themselves get mistreated by publishers because they don’t know what the experience should be like.

Maddie:  Now for some fun stuff...

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens… What are five of your favorite things?

Korey:  I like coffee with cream, moccasin slippers, shawls and ponchos, facewash, and squirrels.

Maddie:  How about your least favorite?

Korey:  Nuts mixed with anything like cookies or chocolate. Gross. Also, as some of you may remember… hummingbirds. Screw hummingbirds. ;)

Maddie:  You are obviously very creative, do you have any hidden talents that most people don’t know about?

Korey:  Well, I’m a crowd ninja. Though I have not been trained in ninjutsu, in crowd situations (festivals, busy streets, crowded rooms, concerts, etc.), I have the ability to get from point A to point B in a very fluid, ghost-like manner. It’s my only true super-power. When my friends lose me in a crowd, they say I went “assassin” on them. It’s a talent I inherited from my father.

Maddie:  When you aren't hard at work publishing books, designing spectacular covers, developing stunning online media graphics, etc., what do you do in your free time?

Korey:  Well, I’m really lucky in that I make a living doing my hobbies, which are writing and graphic design. So a lot of my off-time is just figuring out how to do those things better. I also like audio books and puzzles.

Maddie:  Do you ever leave the man at home and go hang out with just your girls? If so, where do you go? What are you wearing? And what is your favored libation? (I’m a lemon drop girl, myself. Have I mentioned that before? LOL) And most importantly, can I come along next time?

Korey:  I’ve only lived in my new place for a few months, and I haven’t yet developed a large friend group here in Dallas. I’m definitely on the hunt for such a group. So it’d just have to be you and me for now. You get your lemon drop, I’ll get my grasshopper. ;)

Maddie:  Christmas is just around the corner and you have been a very good girl all year. What do you expect to find in your stocking Christmas morning?

Korey:  I’m really hoping I just get a really nice coffee mug, one that’s insulated so it stays hotter for longer. Other than that, I just moved into a new home and I literally don’t have any furniture for it yet, so we’re saving our pennies through the holidays.

Maddie:  Thank you so much for joining me today, Korey.  On a personal note, I was excited to participate in the interviews.  It has been a great opportunity to learn more about the folks that do so much for me as an author, which to be honest, includes tasks that I seriously do not want to do or cannot do for myself.  Working with SNP allows me to focus on writing and I appreciate that so much.

Don't miss the other two parts of our three part interview; Stormy Night Publications: Behind the Naughtiness.

USA Today Bestselling Author Lisa Carlisle Invades Wicked Wanton Wednesday

I'm bringing you something a little different today.  We've done erotic romance, D/s, M/f, F/m, BDSM, spanking, ageplay and more, but we've never done paranormal/shifter romance like Lisa Carlisle does paranormal/shifter romance.

If you haven't discovered Lisa's work, here's your chance.  She loves stories with dark, brooding heroes and independent, caring heroines.  To whet your appetite, she's brought along an excerpt from her newest release; Knights of Stone.  Stick around after the steamy sample and get to know Lisa better in the authors corner.

Knights of Stone

Highland Gargoyles 1

Gargoyles, tree witches, and wolf shifters have divided the Isle of Stone after a great battle twenty-five years ago. When Kayla, a tree witch, hears about the unconventional rock concerts in the gargoyle’s territory, she sneaks from her coven and into their territory to see for herself. Night after night, she returns to see one in particular shift into human form and play guitar at these unconventional shows.

For several nights, Mason has kept watch for the pixie-like female. He plans to seduce her, thinking she’s a visitor from another island. When he discovers she’s one of the tree witches, he retreats, attempting to keep his distance. The temptation is strong, but forbidden.

Kayla and Mason attempt to meet in secret, but other elements on the isle command their attention. A magical cloak created by the three clans on the island is thinning, leading to repercussions for all the clans. Kayla and Mason are caught in the middle of it, and their actions may change the fate for all.

This novella was originally released as part of the USA Today bestselling Highland Shifters paranormal romance boxed set.

Excerpt

A stagehand with tartan draped over one shoulder climbed onto the stage and walked to the closest statue. He fastened the kilt over its shoulder and around its waist with a thick belt, covering the statue’s massive thighs. Kayla flushed, picturing why the coverings were necessary once the transformation began. The kilt had become a key detail in her fantasies about the guitarist, since it was the only clothing he wore. The stagehand continued dressing each statue with the same brilliant blue tartan worn by the gargoyle clan.

The last vestige of sunlight disappeared from the sky, and night draped the stage like a closing curtain. The statues loomed, dark silhouettes barely discernible by the crescent moon with the backdrop of the craggy cliffs and the rugged peaks of waves in the Atlantic Ocean behind them. The murmur of voices was replaced by silence. Waiting…

Five torches blazed on the stage all at once, lit by an unseen force. The audience erupted in cheers as the dancing lights from the flickering fire basked the statues. The flames lowered, casting the gargoyles in an eerie, almost reverent glow.

Movement. So slight, Kayla wondered if it was simply a play of light and shadows in her anticipation for the change. She fixed her gaze on the statue in front of her, the one she’d gravitated to each time she had sneaked out to see the show. Its massive gray form stood straight on two legs built for sturdiness. Its chest jutted out proudly. Gray wings with detailed feathers etched in the stone arched from a point below its shoulder blades. Eyes cast straight ahead on a face that appeared to be a mixture of canine and lion. Its right hand twitched, so slightly she would have missed it if she hadn’t stared so intently. Then a clawed foot inched forward.

Murmurs of astonishment burst from the crowd as the transformation began. Their cries of fervor grew louder as the monstrous statues transformed into taller, slimmer figures with the bronzed skin of warriors who battled under the midday sun. The tartan fabric fell over their thighs as they stood erect, covering their nudity.

Kayla barely blinked, mesmerized as always, as the statue before her stood to full height, taking on the form of a human male, but with beautiful raven wings. Hair just as black snaked rebelliously past his chin. The stony eyes flickered with animation, turning to a mossy green. His deep gaze seared the audience, seeming to burn anything in the path. When he found Kayla, he stopped. His expression was unreadable, but the intensity in his unblinking eyes made her swallow. She froze under the scrutiny as if hypnotized, unable to break eye contact. Her stomach lurched, heart pounded, and every muscle in her body tightened, fueled with blood now scorching through her veins. His penetrating appraisal affected her so. When his eyes took on a smoldering glint, her skin tingled and a red-hot awareness grew between her thighs.

He broke the stare and continued to assess the audience. She gasped, not realizing she had been holding her breath, and panted while she tried to breathe at a normal rate.

He turned on robust legs and strode to a guitar stand. She tore her eyes from him to note the other gargoyles. They, too, had shifted into the form of striking males. One had black hair draped further down his back, one had long blond hair, and two had reddish-brown hair—one wavy and shaggy, the other straight. They took their place at other instruments. She sought the guitarist again and caught the first sound of the pick striking the strings. On hearing the guitar projected through the amp, the crowd roared again, pressing Kayla forward.

The freak show was about to begin.

Spotlights flooded the musicians, powered by solar panels near a massive amplifier. The guitarist continued playing and the others joined in, playing a raucous crossover between hard rock and heavy metal. The one with long blond hair grabbed hold of the microphone and belted out a shattering cry that sounded like a call to battle. The crowd went pin drop silent to listen and then cheered in unison as the band played on. The front man sang piercing growls and low croons about the Knights in Stone, the protectors of the ancient forests, battling against the evil tree witches.

Maddie's Intimate Authors Corner

Maddie:  I’m always excited to have first time visitors in my authors corner.  I enjoy getting to know the author behind the words and sexy covers.

Can you tell us a little bit about your new book? An inspiration, a funny anecdote, or a mishap during the process, something we won’t find in the pages or the blurb.

Lisa:  Knights of Stone started out as a short story. After I completed it, I knew there was more to the story I wanted to tell. It ended up being ten times longer than the original version! Now it’s a novella rather than a short story.

Maddie:  My audience might not be familiar with your work.  Give is the basics; genre, new or established author, how many books to date, accomplishments, you know NY Times Bestsellers, Pulitzers, what have you…

Lisa:  I’ve been writing nonfiction professionally for fifteen years, but have only been published in romance since 2012. I wrote many terrible, unfinished romances during that learning period, though! Now I also write paranormal erotic romance, new adult, contemporary, military, and suspense. I have a series with Ellora’s Cave, military romance with Red Sage, and some indies I’ve released myself. The Knights of Stone novella was originally released as part of the Highland Shifters boxed set, which became a USA Today bestseller.

Maddie:  What is you writing process?  Plotter or pantser?  (Plotter:  methodical process including an outline, notes and highlighters, or pantser:  fly by the seat of your pants, write frenetically and go back and clean up the mess.)

Lisa:  Total Pantser. I discover the characters and story as I write.

Maddie:  To self-pub, or not, that is the question.  Do you or have you self-published?  If you have, what do you find are the pros and cons.  If you haven’t, what is keeping you from it?

Lisa:  Yes, I became a hybrid author this year. I have a series with my publisher, but started new ones on my own. It’s a huge learning curve and takes much more work. I started with shorter stories to get a hang for the process. I love how I can control everything including the cover, the pricing, and the ability to team up with others for boxed sets.

Maddie:  Social media is a wonderful thing, but it also takes a lot of time away from writing.  How do you balance the two?

Lisa:  I enjoy going on Facebook to connect with authors and readers, but have never played a game on there so hopefully that saves time. When I’m writing, I shoot for 500 words a day as I work full time, too, and more on the weekends. Might not seem like much, but it adds up.

Maddie:  How about some fun ‘get to know you’ stuff.  Tell me 5 fun facts about yourself that would surprise us if we knew, sexy or mundane is up to you…

Lisa:  I’m quite petite, but served in the Marines for a short time.  I’m addicted to peanut butter and banana sandwiches.  In my early 20s, I backpacked alone around Europe. Then I ended up living in Paris, working as au pair.

Maddie:  Okay, first of all  petite Marine seems like an oxymoron, but I can honestly say I’m impressed by your commitment and patriotism, and thank you for your service.  I’m also envious of your world travel.  Not only for all of the sights you’ve seen and the people you’ve met, but for the abundance of story ideas you must have picked up in your travels.

As far as peanut butter and banana sandwiches goes, my follow up question is fried like Elvis, or as is.  LOL

Thanks for joining me today Lisa.  Good luck with Knights.  Come back again when you have more shifter action for us.  (Psst, one of my guilty pleasures J )
